This spot is a staple for my running as it offers a variety of distances and terrains which keeps it interesting for myself and pooch.
This 8 km route heads out east from the site of the old Slinfold Station using the downs link and a nice loop through some woods and along the banks of the Arun.
After a short stretch and having negotiated the fairly quiet road the route progresses along the downs link towards Christ Hospital . After a few miles the downslink will try to direct you along the road but looking over the path and negotiating along the footpath under the bridge the trail will lead to the site of the abandoned Christ Hospital station, keeping an eye open for a sign which informs the weary traveller to return back to the downs link a well trodden path though the woods should be taken to the left.
Having negotiated the woods which has a few steep inclines and can be slippery the path comes out again on a better trail. Heading back west now and following the footpaths will lead to open fields and the banks of the river Arun which can be followed the Southern end of Wickhurst Geen. Turning away from there and up the hill along a well maintained path and to an access track for a few farms and properties will lead you once again back to the downs link where we went under the bridge.
Loop completed the path can be taken back again to Slinfold Station for an approximate 8 Km run. Once again this can be made shorter by out and back type runs or longer by multiple loops.
