4 – Ricardo’s River Run – 9.2km

This river run starts out from the Old Shorehan Road outside Ricardo Engineering. The route is a nice easy run along the banks of the Adur for roughly 9km but can easily be shortened but out and back type runs on both sides of river the East side using a well made path so would be good in poor conditions.

Starting out on the footpath to the left of the Old Shoreham toll bridge which is now one of the last of its kind in Sussex or in fact the world. Follow the path along until it comes to a small car park where leading to the right is a small bridge, once over the bridge taking the right path along the river to the next crossing point. Cross over the river and if water for your pooch is required then by following the path straight on there is a purpose-built water trough for thirsty animals.

Dogs refreshed then track back to the river crossing and take path back towards the toll bridge this path is well made and will take you all the way back. At around the 6km mark there’s the option to join the river bank path again which will extend the route by another kilometre or so.

With the wildlife and the opportunity for our four-legged pals to have a swim it is a great run at anytime of year.
