36 – Leith Hill Circular – 14km

Looking out from Leith Hill Tower

This hilly route starts out at the base of Leith hill and leads you on a circular trail via the Leith Hill Tower and Tillingbourne Waterfall.

Etherley Copse car park is easy enough to find though it is a small area with only 3-5 spaces so an early start could be advised to find a space as this is a popular spot for dog walkers and others alike.

Trailhead – Etherley Car Park

The route meanders to a set of steps leading up to the tower, the steps are narrow and well used so it can make slow going during busy periods. Once these have been successfully navigated the trail opens up and leads out to a fantastic vista looking out over Surrey and Sussex Wealden basin with views all the way to the South Downs .

A Frozen Tillingbourne Waterfall

Having regained your breath from the sharp climb the trails wind their way down along wide open tracks through woodlands and leading you past the picturesque Tillingbourne water fall though during my run and the cold weather this was frozen which was definitely a sight to see.

Leith Hill Tower

Having dragged yourself away the trail swings left over the river and starts to head back up to the main trails leading back towards the Tower. Once over the hill the route leads you back down good forestry trails and after a few Kilometres the trail brings you back out not too far from your start point.
