21 – Rudgwick – 8.5km

This route starts out in Rudgwick at the site of the now demolished station and leads south along the downs link.

Heading south along the Downs link towards Slinfold this route turns and takes you though ancient woodland, open fields and muddy trails. Once past the Furnace lakes the route takes you north through Roman woods which if willing to explore slightly more remnants of the old roman road can still been seen which provided a direct route from Chichester to London Bridge. Once at the top of Roman woods the route leads back towards Rudgwick along some exceptional muddy trails but then breaks out into open fields where sheep graze.

Finally turning East the route takes you through the grounds of Holy Trinity church, past the Kings Head Public house and onwards towards the Downs link. Once the Downs link is joined it’s an easy journey back to the starting location.
