This route heads out East towards Amberly along the South Downs Way and uses paths across fields and downs (plenty of ups too).
Parking for this run is ideal and does not involve the heady climb up to the top. Starting East along the SDW then south towards the coast this lovely run is an absolute pleasure, from the many vantage points you can see right down to the south coast or north into the Sussex weald and onward towards the North Downs, while heading south there is also the remains of a WW2 Churchill MkII Tank and with a closer inspection you can see where the Canadian Army used it for target practice.
Once across the fields the route brings you back up onto the SDW where you can run your way back to the car park right on the top. Water is scarce though the eagle-eyed will spot the occasion animal trough for the sheep and cattle which can be accessible.
