As it has been a while I thought I’d start with a nice 5km route from one of my favourite locations.
Parking can be found at the Onslow Arms and there is ample water for hot pooches at the start and end of the run to drink or swim.
Heading East from the parking location along the Canal and left over the first bridge. Once over the bridge following the foot path right along the opposite bank until a small bridge on the left presents itself after about 100m. Crossing the bridge and following the field edge will eventually come to a wooded path in the top left of the field. Negotiating the slightly over grown path will brig you to a road where caution should be taken.
Once over the road follow the track to a stile and across another field to more woodland. Over the last stile of the route and through more overgrown path brings you out onto a nice woodland trail. Follow this train until a path is on the right, follow this all the way along until you reach a forestry road, through the gates and along the path till it meets another. Taking a left here brings you back to a road. Again caution should be taken and you are looking for a foot path opposite and slight to the right, once found the path will lead you along the edge of a horse field and back into woodland.
Following this path there will after about 500m a path is on the right, take this and then left at the end. Following this will bring you to a track and a right turn leads back onto the Canal. A quick turn right and follow back to your starting place.
A lovely spot for a walk of quick run…
